The Quran and the Atom

In the light of the known scientific facts in the field of chemistry, the first thing that draws attention in this area is that the Holy Qur’an has covered a wide range of the branches of this science! … The atom is the smallest particle of the element that derives its qualities. Indeed, the Holy Qur’an has attracted attention to the fact that there is something smaller than that part: )nor what is less than that or greater than that, but it is (written) in a clear Book.) (Yunus: 61( As if He wanted to draw our attention to the structure of the atom itself; in terms of containing the electrons, protons, and neutrons, but He referred to the atomic weight through the word mithqal (weight(. (Those who disbelieve say: The Hour will never come unto us. Say: Nay, by my Lord, but it is coming unto you surely. (He is) the Knower of the Unseen. Not an atom’s weight, or less than that or greater, escapeth Him in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a clear Record.) (Say (O Muhammad): Call upon those whom ye set up beside Allah! They possess not an atom’s weight either in the heavens or in the earth, nor have they any share in either, nor hath He an auxiliary among them). (And whoso doeth good an atom’s weight will see it then, and whoso doeth ill an atom’s weight will see it then).
