In the presence of a number of official and academic figures, the Environment Department at the Faculty of Science at the University of Kufa held its symposium titled “Waste Management between Reality and Ambition” to highlight some negative phenomena in using the wrong methods of waste disposal and emphasizing the recycling of waste whether domestic or industrial or agricultural, and choose the correct places for landfill, and work to reduce the accumulation adopting modern scientific methods. The seminar discussed three axes, including the selection of landfill areas using geometrics techniques for Dr. Hussein Al-Shammari, and “The Effect of Waste on Environmental Systems” by Dr. Mohammed Al-Haidari and “Biological Safety Strategy in Waste Management” by Dr. Nihad Habib. For his part, the President of the University a. Dr. Mohsen Al-Dhlami stressed the necessity of forming joint committees between the academic institution and the executive authority to activate the recommendations made by the symposium and apply them on the ground and benefit from the researches related to the society. He pointed out the need to benefit from the experiences of developed countries in the field of waste recycling.
