The Department of Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Science at the University of Kufa held a seminar on the properties and uses of clays and their uses.
The Seminar included a lecture given by Dr. Faris Nasser Murad, which dealt with the definition of clays, methods of their formation and the types of their presence in nature according to their containment of clay and non-clay minerals and organic materials.
The seminar dealt with some of the uses of clays in industrial fields, such as making ceramics, fire bricks and cement, removing dyes, fats and other materials in oil, and in the process of drilling oil wells.
