A master’s thesis in the Department of Chemistry investigated the
evaluation of serum levels of chemrin, omentin, and hypoxia factor-1
as risk factors in COVID-19 patients.
The thesis, submitted by Lama'a Jawad Hussein, under the
supervision of Prof. Hana Aday Ali, aimed to determine the levels of
inflammatory factors in the serum of Covid 19 patients and their
relationship with the severity of the disease, and to determine the
correlations between the new variables and the variables usually
measured in patients' sera.
The results of the thesis revealed a significant increase in the level of
chemerin, hypoxia factor-1 and a decrease in the level of omentin,
which is an important sign for predicting the disease and diagnosing
its severity, with the possibility of nominating omentine as an anti-
inflammatory treatment in Corona patients.
