The Department of biology holds a scientific symposium on the optimal use of antibiotics

Coinciding with the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, the Department of biology
In the Faculty of Science, a scientific symposium entitled “The optimal use of antibiotics” in cooperation with Ismailia Medical Company over two days.
The seminar aimed to educate students about the correct use of antibiotics and avoid indiscriminate use because of its serious effects on health.
The symposium included awareness lectures by professors of the Department of biology to students in all scientific departments on the types of antibiotics, their characteristics, how to use each type, adherence to the doctor’s instructions in taking the antibiotic and adherence to the duration of treatment to gain healing and avoid bacterial resistance to the antibiotic.
The symposium recommended emphasizing scientific research that shows that microbes have become resistant to a specific antibiotic and informing the competent authorities to alleviate some health problems.
And the importance of reading the drug leaflet attached to the antibiotic in order to know its expiry date and the way to store it properly and not to take any antibiotic prescribed to another person in any way to avoid the risk that may result from side effects of treatment.
