The Department of Geology held a seminar entitled Plate Rims in the Atlantic Ocean: Their Origin and Extensions.
The seminar included a lecture by researcher Tahsin Faisal Hussein, in which he presented a cross-section of the three main layers of the earth and the most important first theories that assumed the breaking of the earth’s lithosphere into several large and small plates.
The seminar touched on the types of movements at the plate boundaries, with a focus on the edges of the rock plates in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, defining its extension from north to south, and studying the magnetism on both sides of it and on the global plate boundaries.
