The Department of Laboratory Investigations held a seminar on the relationship between rheumatic disease and chronic urinary tract infection caused by pathogenic bacteria. The seminar included a lecture given by researcher Hussein Khaled, supervised by Prof. Dr. Hawra Abdel-Amir, in which he dealt with how to isolate and diagnose pathogenic bacteria taken from the urine of patients with chronic urinary tract infection and urine of patients with rheumatoid arthritis associated with urinary tract infection.
The seminar dealt with the search for dominant mutations in the RA group and the dominant pattern (CC, GG, GC) and linking the patterns of this mutation with the type of disease-causing bacteria.
