A seminar on the harms of excessive intake of nutritional supplements

 

The Department of Biology  held a seminar entitled (Nutritional Supplements and the Damages of Excessive Consumption).

The seminar included a lecture by the assistant lecturer, Shaima Muhammad Ali, in which she touched on the most important types of nutritional supplements that people take, how to use them, and how important they are to fill the deficiency in them inside the body. The seminar also touched on the dangers and harms of these supplements and their negative impact on the health of the individual in the event of excessive intake in high doses and for a long and unstudied period of time. Of its  effects are on the health of the heart, arteries, and liver, as well as causing muscle spasms and digestive disorders.

The seminar recommended the necessity for not to take nutritional supplements without consulting a doctor, and in cases of pregnancy and lactation, they should not be taken from unknown sources, and not to overuse them to avoid their harmful effects on the general health of the body.
