Master’s thesis in the Department of Biology on the bacteria that cause gallbladder infection

A master’s thesis in the Department of Biology investigated the molecular identification of some virulence factors in bacteria causing cholecystitis.

The thesis presented by Kahla Muhammad Abbas, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Abbas Shaker Jawad, aims to identify the bacteria that cause infection of the gallbladder in patients in Najaf Governorate, its prevalence and severity.

The thesis concluded that the bacteria have an essential role in causing the infection, and the common bacteria, Enetrobacter Cloacae, which are resistant to most antibiotics used in treatment, were isolated, and a number of virulence factors for these bacteria and their encoding genes were studied.
