The Department of Environment is holding a seminar on the effect of nanoparticles of zinc oxide on plants

The Department of Environment and Pollution held a seminar entitled Evaluation of the genotoxicity and oxidative stress of zinc oxide nanoparticles in some plant species.

The seminar included a lecture given by the researcher Abdullah Hassan Kazem, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mithaq Abdul Muslim Joudeh, in which he dealt with the toxic effects of zinc nanoparticles on enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants such as chlorophyll, carotene, catalase, and peroxidase, as well as the effect of nanomaterials on genotoxicity in many plants such as watercress, spinach, and fenugreek.

The seminar mentioned that the increasing accumulation of nanomaterials in the environment leads to uncommon damages that need more attention to study the toxic effects on living organisms, including plants.
