Master thesis on the effect of radiotherapy on heavy metals in the blood

 

A master’s thesis in the Department of Physics examined the evaluation of the effect of radiotherapy on the concentration of heavy metals in the blood serum of cancer patients. It was submitted by MSc student Miqdad Abdel Hamid Youssef under the supervision of Dr. Talib Abdel Reda Abdel Wahed.

The aim of the thesis was to investigate the levels of chromium, cadmium and zinc in the blood serum of cancer patients in Najaf, and to compare the levels of these elements during the radiation treatment period, taking into account the factors affecting the levels of the three studied elements such as age, sex and body mass.

The results of the thesis showed that radiation therapy affects the levels of zinc, chromium and cadmium in the serum of patients with cancer during treatment sessions.
