The Department of Physics discussed a master’s thesis on the study of the nonlinear propagation of a hollow Gaussian laser beam inside a magnetized plasma. It was presented by researcher Abdul Karim Ali Nasser, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Munther Baqer Hassan.
The aim of the thesis was to derive the self-focusing equations for the Gaussian hollow laser pattern and to design a program in MATLAB language to solve the final differential equations.
The results of the thesis showed that increasing the order of the hollow Gaussian pattern leads to a decrease in self-focus, and that an increase in the intensity of the incident laser, the frequency of the plasma, and the external magnetic field leads to an increase in the self-focus, while increasing the diameter of the initial laser leads to a decrease in the phenomenon of self-focus.
