The Department of Environment at the faculty of Science, University of Kufa held a
seminar on the latest modern applications of biological sensors.
The seminar in which Dr. Basim Abdel Hassan lectured included an explanation of
the vital sensors and their components and the latest applications such as the
electronic nose tracker for odor and home canary to warn of gas in mines and the use
of these devices in the field of environmental monitoring and water treatment.
The seminar stressed the importance of adding biotechnology sensors to the curricula,
opening specialized laboratories that include the latest biotechnology techniques, and
setting up scientific courses and workshops on this advanced technology.
